Discovering Greece with Pax More: A Revelation in Travel
Recently, JG Collection embarked on our first collaboration with a Premier DMC, Pax More, in Greece. Combining a vacation with an opportunity to experience their services firsthand during our Azamara Cruise was an ideal opportunity to witness first-hand the offering.
Upon arrival in Athens, we were warmly greeted by a driver who took us to lunch with Yorgos Cheretis, the Owner of Pax More at the ‘Somewhere in Vouliagmeni’ boutique hotel by the Athens Riviera. During our meal, we planned our Greek adventure ahead. Navigating through Athens airport, which can often be a challenge, was made effortless by their seamless service and a great start to what was about to unfold.
Our stops were aligned with the cruise’s itinerary, but Pax More elevated the experience to another level.
In Santorini, after taking the ship’s tender, we boarded the cable car in Fira town and met our driver, Vaios, for an action-packed day. We started with a visit to the Archaeological site of Akrotiri—an absolute must-see, rich with history and remarkably preserved. This was followed by visits to two incredible wineries: Venetsanos Winery, where we enjoyed a six-wine flight paired with cheese and charcuterie, and Estate Argyros, known for its superb architecture and excellent service. It felt as though they knew we were coming! Vaios then whisked us away for panoramic views of Santorini before dropping us in the picturesque streets of Oia. We ended the day with a breathtaking view at the world-famous Lycabettus restaurant (within the Andronis Luxury Suites premises), one of Santorini’s top dining spots.
In Crete, our journey continued in Agios Nikolaos, where we first visited Knossos Palace in Heraklion & later on the Archaeological Museum in Heraklion, where we were guided by the wonderful Anna. We were then privileged to visit the newly refurbished Hotel Alai in Stalis and take lunch with George, the owner, and enjoyed a delightful tour of Stella Island, where Dimitris, the owner, shared his vision for the future.
In Rhodes, we explored the historic city and then indulged in the luxurious offerings at Elysium Resort and Spa, known for its exceptional service and rejuvenating treatments.
In Limassol, Pax More arranged for us to explore the charming town before a day pass at the Park Lane Hotel. We were given an extensive tour of the rooms, restaurants, sports facilities, and spa, thanks to Lorenzo Vivaldelli. The day was capped off with lunch at the Nammos Beach Club—a highly recommended spot that’s making waves across the Mediterranean and Middle East.
Our final day in Crete took us to Chania, where we visited the new Archaeological Museum, housing over 3,500 exhibits. We also explored the historic home of Venizelos, the Greek Prime Minister. We then returned to the picturesque port of Chania for a memorable lunch at Ta Neoria, enjoying local delicacies like octopus and grilled shrimp, alongside stunning views of the harbour. The culinary quality throughout our trip was exceptional—thankfully, the cruise ship had a gym!
Back in Athens, our last stop allowed for more quality time with Yorgos and special thanks to Maria at The Dolly for the enlightening inspection and breakfast. Time was short so we had to wrap up with a quick inspection at Electra Metropolis & Electra Palace, and then the iconic Grande Bretagne and the superb Athens Capital M Gallery where we regretfully had to decline the lunch offered by George & Stavros at their exceptional roof garden restaurant with the Acropolis & Lycabettus views. We finished our time in Athens with another fantastic lunch at Aiolou 68, prepared under the care of yet another Yorgos, this time a talented restaurant owner & oenologist. It was a pleasure to visit the Pax More office and later meet Matilda from the team at Manko the club adjacent to the brand new One & Only Aesthesis, Athens—a true investment worth seeing up close.
There are countless stories I could share about my time in Greece, but one thing stands out: the unparalleled quality of service, attention to detail, and deep local knowledge that Pax More offers. This experience has truly opened my eyes to the dedication required to run a successful DMC. For clients and connections seeking high-end FIT or small group solutions in Greece, I wholeheartedly recommend reaching out to me. It would be my absolute pleasure to assist you.
